Habitat for Humanity

It was meaningful...
it sure was...
on thursday there was a talk in LT1 by the ppl from Habitat For Humanity...
a few students not more than 15 went for the talk along with all the teachers...
we were quite "intimidated" with the presence of all the teachers...
I felt as though they were like screening and scrutinizing us every sec..
so afterall teachers aren that quiet afterall...
they also need the " shhhhhing" LOL
and it was by us.... :P
they arent that "innocent" and "clean minded" too...
when Mr arul said " the thing we like to do in our free time"
some broke into laughter....
lol....
that explains it...heh...
i shall not elaborate...

anyway I learnt quite alot from the talk...
Ok so basically HFH(habitat for humanity) is an international christian charity organisation...
they build houses for the poor and needy in other countries...
eg. india, china , indonesia , new zealand and australia....
HFH seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
i thought its very great and meaningful...

Fact in Philipines:
chinese ancestors(the dead chinese) l"live" in HOUSES....
meaning: some of their coffins are STORED in houses....
houses that are like landed property...
some single storey some double...
some even have air condition installed to keep their ancestors cool and shiok.....
whereas just outside the "cemetry" were plenty of ppl living in slums and make-shift houses...
my response to that was wth...
i m not being disrespectful to the dead...
but its just too unbelievable....
i mean the dead actually lives better than the living...
if the ppl there are really rich, they should donate money to the poor...
give them at least a proper house to live in...
a roof and 4 walls is good enough...

Fact: the HFH is also in the guiness world records for building the fastest house ever
they took just 3hrs to build a house....
WOAH...it really sounds impossible...
at least to me...
but yea they have done it...

i think SJI might be planning to send a team to batam for a 1-3 day build...
a team will be around 10-15 ppl
cost if i didnt rmb wrongly will be 260 for individual cost...
as well as around 3.5 k for the team cost(the cost for building the house)
i think the 3.5 k will be through donations but 260 should be from our own pockets...
everything is just in preliminary stage...
it should be around the year end hols i guess...
quite logical heh...after O's...
so ya if u r interested u can approach gabriel woon 431
he's the coordinator....
oh ya...must be at least 14 heh..
so that means sec 3 at least...
